NEW HAVEN, CONNECTICUT
The Jackie Robinson Middle School is an award winning facility which utilizes insulating translucent panels and windows to establish a feeling of openness and connection with the environment.
One side of the building is sub-divided into smaller-scaled units that relate to the adjacent residential neighborhood. The other side overlooks a teacher’s college and steps down the hillside in a manner that reduces the apparent size of the structure. The three academic “houses” are distinguished by separate entrances and mechanical towers.
