Columbia Crossing will be an important new affordable resource that will anchor and propel the growth of the Uphams Corner Arts & Innovation District. Current low-income residents in the neighborhood  will be given first preference for tenancy.  12 units will be reserved and specifically designed as live-work units for artists at affordable rates.

Below-market rate commercial space will be made available to small businesses with a commitment to MBEs, and nonprofit organizations serving people of color.

This neighborhood is predominantly Latino, African American, and Caribbean and the design of the principal arts and civic spaces will incorporate culturally relevant iconography. The development will provide program spaces and host activities that will complement and work in tandem with programmed events at the iconic Strand Theater across the street from the site.
